New Works

Among living American choir conductors who have conducted the most world premieres, Harold Rosenbaum is widely regarded as the front‑runner.

A champion of new choral music, NYVS has commissioned more than 100 works and premiered more than 550 pieces by both celebrated and emerging composers. Collaborators include William Bolcom, David Del Tredici, Thea Musgrave, Steven Stucky and Katherine Hoover, alongside rising voices such as Emily Bear, Juhi Bansal and Conrad Tao.

In 2013, Rosenbaum’s 25 × 25 Project united 25 American composers for NYVS’s 25th anniversary; the recording was named Album of the Week by WQXR. And as part of Composers Now, led by Tania León, NYVS continues to promote and perform contemporary choral works that define the evolving sound of the modern concert choir.
